Featured | “London living reinvented” by Alissa Ugolini in Homify:

“Architects and homeowners alike are getting more and more inventive when it comes to figuring out how to use and reinvent the space at the rear of their inner-city properties. In most cases, the living room or kitchen area is rethought before all other rooms, due to the fact they are viewed as some of the most important spaces in a home. Value and resale wise, how the kitchen looks, in particular, has the potential to make or break a sale. The kitchen is seen as the heart of the home; a space that connects all other rooms and family members together so it makes sense that it should be a well laid out space conducive to conversation and interaction. Today on Homify, we are touring through a wonderful side house extension by GOAStudio London residential architecture which will surely inspire you to make changes to your home.“

Southfields, Wandsworth SW18 | Residential development

Southfields, Wandsworth SW18

Residential development

Project description | Southfields Wandsworth SW18 residential development

Development of site occupied by two garages, demolition of garages and replacing them with a 2/3 bedroom three storey residential dwelling with an internal area of 99.4sqm. Our proposal aims to create a contemporary residential dwelling that responds and enhances the character of this conservation area by respecting the dominant character of the roof profiles and how they are articulated in this residential typography. The form is traditional with pitched roofs at a pitch echoing Arts and Crafts architecture and sits comfortably within the architecture of the houses in the area. Due to the site constraints and in order to minimise the visual impact of the dwelling we propose to slope the roof planes in all directions inward in order to maximise the sense of space around the dwelling, reduce any impact to light and outlook, and distance the dwelling visually from the street and other public viewing points.

Project type | Residential development

Client | Private

Location | Southfields, Wandsworth SW18

Currently | Past residential development feasibility study stage

Architectural services

Initial consultation, measured survey and production of existing set of drawings, preparation of proposals to receive formal pre-application advice, residential development feasibility study, liaising with the duty planner and conservation officer, planning submission.
