Design and planning
The house spans over two floors with most of the living accommodation on the ground floor and the bedroom areas on the first floor. We propose to extend the house to the side over two storeys. The aim is to bring a better balance between the relationship between living and bedroom accommodation and also allow the use of the loft space as a useable room.
The proposed extension develops from the existing geometry of the house and in accordance to the relevant planning policy guidelines we believe. A flat roof section at high level allows the extension to appear smaller and sub-ordinate to the main house while the pitched roof sections follow the pitch of the existing roof; the overall design appears as an organic development of the existing roof in the way it relates to and makes references to existing heights and relationships. The new extension steps back from the front elevation and we propose to use materials to match the
existing.
We believe that the proposed changes will compliment the character of the existing property, do not impact on the amenities of the adjacent properties and create a modern family unit that blends thoughtful modern design with the character of the existing dwelling.
Architectural services
Measured survey and production of existing set of drawings, planning stage design and submission, obtaining planning approval, preparation of technical Building Regulations stage information, obtaining Building Regulations approval, preparation of tendering information for builders to price.
