Southfields, Wandsworth SW18 | Residential development
Development of site occupied by two garages, demolition of garages and replacing them with a 2/3 bedroom three storey residential dwelling with an internal area of 99.4sqm. Our proposal aims to create a contemporary residential dwelling that responds and enhances the character of this conservation area by respecting the dominant character of the roof profiles and how they are articulated in this residential typography. The form is traditional with pitched roofs at a pitch echoing Arts and Crafts architecture and sits comfortably within the architecture of the houses in the area. Due to the site constraints and in order to minimise the visual impact of the dwelling we propose to slope the roof planes in all directions inward in order to maximise the sense of space around the dwelling, reduce any impact to light and outlook, and distance the dwelling visually from the street and other public viewing points.
