Rear house extension Enfield N21 – We were appointed to design the renovations and extensions for a single family dwelling in a conservation area at Enfield N21. We have just obtained planning approval for a single storey rear ground floor extension to create a combined kitchen, dining and living area that opens up to the rear garden.

The approval was issued by the Enfield planning department. 

We are currently in the process of preparing the required technical and structural information we will need to obtain the next set of approvals before the contractors start with the building works later this year.

We proposed the addition of a single storey rear extension that added 2.5m in depth to the existing rear projection and the remodelling to the existing roof along the rear and side; associated internal and external alterations will create an open plan kitchen, living and dining area that opens up to the rear garden.

Our proposals were in-keeping with the character of the host dwelling and of the terrace as well.

The addition of a small rear extension is in-keeping with the character of the existing house in regards to its scale, setting, mass, materials and the detailing of the new doors and windows.

The new flat roof relates to the existing upper flat roof and the overall composition aims to enhance the character of this conservation area while at the same time modernising this dwelling and creating a better relationship between the living spaces and the rear garden area.

The proposed extension does not affect the amenity of the adjacent properties and we do not propose to alter the access around the front of the building or the access to the property in general.
