Brief project description | Fulham Broadway SW6 Fulham and Hammersmith flat alterations to mansard roof
Alterations to the existing window openings at the rear to create a Juliet balcony on the upper floor and access (for maintenance purposes only) to the second floor roof space; the access to the roof space is currently through a low height door which we replaced with a full height door.
As part of the flat alterations to Mansard roof we installed solar panels and added a rooflight along the length of the floor plan. The solar panels will occupy the south end (rear) part of the roof and they will rise low above the roof level. Metal handrails will be required for protection and assist with access and maintenance for the panels. The handrails will step back from the edge of the roof to avoid being visible from street level or other nearby low level windows. A retractable ladder will provide access to the roof for specialists to access the panel and also maintain the roof when this is necessary.
